First ‘Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare’ Update Releases

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Boost Jumping

After revealing their plans to update Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare post launch, then later offering a small, detailed list on what changes were coming, Sledgehammer Games has officially released the first patch for the game, with the PC getting the first wave. Kudos to the team for launching the game, talking about updates, then releasing said updates in a timely manner.

Once again, Sledgehammer Games Head Michael Condrey is sharing the news of the update’s release, this time offering a full, complete list that shows all the implemented changes. Interestingly, while the PC version of Advanced Warfare saw the update first, the PS4 and Xbox One versions are receiving two updates. The contents of the second has yet to be detailed, but it’ll probably tweak a few things that couldn’t be made the first time around. As of right now, though, the initial patch should be live for all three mentioned platforms.

Condrey went on to reassure fans that the team has made a continued effort to listen to community feedback and intends to make their first game (as the lead dev) as good as it can.

The full list of the content for the update is below:

  • Adjustment to the in-game chat names notifications placement.

  • Fixed Prestige reset issues, including emblems and challenges.

  • Fixed marksman and camo challenges to not reset when you Prestige.

  • Connectivity optimizations for game servers.

  • Fixed issues with Ping Bar not updating correctly.

  • Fixed stats not accumulating towards leaderboards after Prestiging.

  • Adjustment to challenges to unlock camos for weapons.

  • Fixed round-based game modes, affecting Win/Loss ratios.

  • Implemented ability to unlock eSports Rule options in Private Match.

  • Fixed weapon reloads counting as speed reloads in certain circumstances.

  • Added description to reload informing that you can double-tap to speed reload.

  • Fixed DoubleXP splash, so it doesn’t show up in Private Match, Combat Readiness Program, or Exo Survival mode.

  • Showing 4x or 2x based on whether a loot DoubleXP item exists

  • Add DoubleXP icon to medal splashes when DoubleXP is active.

  • Fixed rare save game issue affecting playthrough progression

  • KC score limit increased to 85 per match.

In additional news, and probably to the delight of Sledgehammer and Activision, Advanced Warfare went on to outsell its predecessor, Call of Duty: Ghosts. At least, in the UK; thereby vindicating Activision’s statements last week foretelling this very thing.

According to Games Industry and information from Gfk Chart-Track, Advanced Warfare overtook Ghosts by a “convincing margin.” It also sold more in its launch week than the combined efforts of Titanfall, Destiny and Wolfenstein: The New Order. Regardless of how you feel about the series, you can’t deny that it’s still a mega-seller, and it could very well become the biggest game of 2014; guess what? Activision called that too.

If you’re out there playing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, how’s it treating you? And what’s your take on the game’s first update? Hopefully it won’t screw up anyone’s play style.
