Titanfall’s eighth content update will add a four-player wave-based co-op and two other modes, developer Respawn Entertainment revealed in a Twitch stream today.
Called Frontier Defense, the wave-based co-op mode is pretty stock Horde mode trade, with more challenging waves following one after the other. These waves, however, will be comprised of new enemy types and not just existing Grunts, Spectres, et cetera. Frontier Defense will be available on all 24 maps. It will also introduce plantable turrets and new Titan variants, such as Mortar Titans, which sit on the edge of the map and bomb from afar.
The other two modes are Marked for Death Pro, which adds rounds to the the basic Marked for Death formula, and Deadly Ground, which sees the ground floor-level of the map coated in electric smoke, forcing players to flex their wall-running skills and conduct their killing more vertically. As for Titans, they will accumulate damage due to the smoke, limiting their time on the map and requiring their advantage be explored more quickly and strategically.
A full breakdown of Content Update 8 is up on Titanfall‘s official website.
