2015 Toyota Aurion

The Aurion is the name Toyota gave to a very close relative of the Camry in Australia and some parts of Asia. The car has been sold in these parts of the World in roughly the same shape for more than 8 years and it is now going to receive an update with the 2015 Toyota Aurion which seems to be more than just a mild facelift. While it will continue to use the same platform as the Camry, this time the car is going to get o a slightly different path with a new design, a new interior as well as different options, better suited for the markets it is sold in.

The official release date is still unknown but the new Aurion should be ready to be released to the public by the end of the second quarter of 2015 while the showroom release should be ready by the end of the year. The price will also remain unchanged with the base car going for $36,000 while the top of the range model topping at nearly $44,000, a competitive price for a car this powerful.

Engine

Engine wise nothing is going to change for the new Aurion, so the car will still rock the same old naturally aspirated 3.5 liter V6 which is good for 270 horsepower and 336 N*m of torque, a hefty power output but a mild fuel consumption at best. This will only power the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission which can be had with paddle shifters only on the top end model, the Sportivo.

There are rumors that in the future the old V6 is going to be replaced with a turbocharged 2 liter inline 4 which is going to offer around 300 horsepower and 400 N*m of torque, all while using around 15 to 20% less fuel, depending on the situation, quite a big improvement in our opinion.

On the inside, the 2015 Toyota Aurion won’t remain unchanged, so the quality of the materials is going to get better, the equipment level will increase and the seats are going to be more comfortable. This is going to be achieved with a more levels of adjusting them, allowing the driver and its right passenger to find the perfect position. On top of that, a 4.2 inch LCD screen will now be standard on all models as well as the dual-zone automatic climate control unit. Satellite navigation as well as a touch-screen are also available as optional extras.

Exterior

The outside of the car will not change all that much despite the fact the Camry received a massive exterior update. The only real changes are the new headlights, the slightly different design for the tail lights as well as new pair of rims, depending on the model of choice.

The Land Cruiser is Toyota’s current flagship for their current SUV division, a car released back at the end of 2007 which only received an update back in 2013. Until then though, the new Land Cruiser is going to be a better looking version of the current model and not much more. While Toyota hasn’t said anything about it just yet, just a few days ago there has been a massive leak which shows a brochure of the Japanese model of the car, explaining the new features and having a clear picture of the car. It seems that this new model is going to be closer in terms of equipment as well as quality to the Lexus LX, its close relative. This has been a long wait especially when we factor in its base cost of more than $80,000, more than most other cars in its class.

Exterior

On the outside, the new 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser is going to change for the better. The front end seems to be revised quite heavily, with a new grille with integrated headlights which do make the car appear wider. On top of that, the bumper has also been changed and it now features different looking fog-lights as well as a subtle grille that runs across the width of the car. The headlights are now dual-Xenon units with integrated LED lights while at the back it will get a new set of LED tail lights as well as a new chrome bar which will span across the width of the rear tailgate.

The inside on the other hand is expected to get quite a few updates with more equipment available in the base model. 2016 Toyota Prius Price and Release Date

The newest generation of the Prius has just been released a few days back and it is a much more striking car than everyone expected it to be. The design changed a lot, it rides on a new platform and it is also supposed to get an all new engine which should make it one of the most fuel efficient cars in the World.

The 2016 Toyota Prius is the fourth generation of the car and it should be ready for sale by the start of 2016. It seems that the price will slightly rise from that of the ongoing model with the base version of the car being expected to cost around $26,000.

Just as we said, the car actually rides on an all new platform, Toyota’s New Global Architecture which it will share with the RAV4, the Corolla as well as a few other cars out there. This new platform provides a lower center of gravity, it is made mostly out of high strength steel and aluminum, so it is both lighter and more rigid than the previous one.

The powertrain of the new 2016 Toyota Prius will change a lot over that of the current model and even though it will continue to be a hybrid, the 2016 model is expected to be the first petrol powered car to get over 60 MPG on average. However, unlike the previous model, there are now going to be two different versions of the car which will use the same engine.

These should improve the fuel consumption by around 10% which is not that bad. The total power of the car is expected to be kept around 140 horsepower and 150 lb-ft of torque which is not great but it is certainly sufficient for a daily commuter car.

The biggest change will come with the battery which will be installed in the car. There are now going to be two different versions. The first will be similar to that of the current model but it will offer a denser package while the premium model will get a lithium-ion battery pack which will get a 20% improvement in its capacity and around 10% shaved from its weight. These should further improve fuel consumption and allow the Prius to be more efficient and more reliable.

The design of the car did not remain the same either which is a bit of a surprise because Toyota said that they want to keep the Prius look intact. Instead, they went for a more futuristic look and the new model now has an entirely new front fascia with more aggressive headlights, a different lower grille and triangular motives in and around the car. The rear C-pillar has been blacked out in order to give it a floating roof effect while at the back the car is mostly identical to the Mirai which is a bit of a disappointment considering Toyota said they will not copy the design of that car.

Interior Design

Inside the cabin, the 2016 Toyota Prius is also quite impressive but not what we expected it to be. The design is similar to the Toyota Mirai but the materials are not as good. On top of that, Toyota decided to mount a small joystick-like gear changing system which is mounted quite low on the center console. The equipment level when it will launch it will be quite good with a standard infotainment system, climate control and even electric windows and mirrors.
