Bonus Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel mission ties in with Tales from the Borderlands

As well as new DLC and a new difficulty level, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will also be getting a new bonus mission next week that helps to explain a few things that occurred in Telltale Games’ Tales from the Borderlands.

Warning: There are spoilers below.

Once Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel‘s newest update is installed next week, players can head over to the Hyperion Hub of Heroism and talk to Nakayama to receive the new Handsome AI mission. The mission sends players on “a quick errand that sheds some light on Nakayama’s plans to immortalize everybody’s favorite Hyperion CEO using high-tech artificial intelligence.”

The mission basically explains how Handsome Jack manages to show up at the end of the first episode of Tales from the Borderlands despite being killed in Borderlands 2.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel‘s second piece of DLC, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack: The Holodome Onslaught, is set to go live on December 16 and sees players enter the Holodome Arena to earn new weapons, new class mods, and some radical new heads, and skins. The DLC also ups the maximum level cap to 60, adding 10 new skill points in the process.

Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode coming to Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel later this week

Gearbox Software has confirmed that Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode will be released as a free update for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel later this week on Xbox 360, with PlayStation 3 and PC getting it next week.

Xbox 360 owners can download the update from December 11, while PS3 and PC owners have to wait until December 16. To access the mode, players must have first completed the main story missions in True Vault Hunter Mode and reached level 50.

Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode makes the following changes to the game:

  • Regular enemies will receive a 1.5x health multiplier and 1.5x shield multiplier

  • Badass enemies will receive a 2.5x health multiplier and 3.5x shield multiplier

  • Enemies are now more likely to drop ammo, plus enemies and chests will give you better gear than in other playthroughs

  • Elemental weapons will also be more effective, as will gear with elemental resistance

Last week, Gearbox announced that Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel‘s next DLC pack, Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack: The Holodome Onslaught, will be available from December 16 in North America and from December 17 internationally. The Dlc raises the level cap to 60 and adds a new challenge arena with new enemies, new weapons, new class mods, and new customization options.
