Gmail Log In Email

Gmail: the most popular Free email provider

Every second person has a Gmail account, no wait! Every person has a Gmail account, isn’t it? (at least this is what it appears to be). How many times do we log in into our Gmail accounts in a day? At least once a day; be it personal messages, professional emails or promotional ads for everything we have a one stop solution, Gmail.com.

Gmail is a software that can be used by users for free; therefore, it is termed as free email provider. Although it is supported by online advertisements for generating revenue and has options for upgrading storage capacity, it doesn’t charge users with normal accounts.

History of Gmail

  • On 1st April, 2004 Gmail was launched in the Beta phase. Beta phase is that phase in which the software generally has more bugs than the actual launch phase and needs to be tested for bugs.

  • On 7th February, 2007 it was made available to the public in general; however, it was still in Beta stage.

  • Finally, on 7th July, 2009 the status of Gmail was upgraded from the Beta stage. Since then the software has been re-coded and upgraded for different explorers and operating systems.

  • The idea was initially conceived by Rajen Seth and the software was developed by Paul Buchheit. Interestingly, under the code name, Caribou.

Gmail was initially only used by Google employees; but after its launch it now has an extensive reach and Gmail recorded a user base of 425 million active users as of June, 2012.

The reason behind Gmail’s Popularity are the features that Gmail offers
