Select Fans Start ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ Early Access Beta Tomorrow

Halo 5 Guardians Sequels No Number

For many Halo fans, the last month or so has been spent in frustration while 343 Industries attempts to fix the matchmaking problems in Halo: The Master Chief Collection with patch after patch. There were some big promises attached to the Master Chief Collection and although it delivered on a gorgeous remastered edition of Halo 2, its goal to create one hub for playing all the Halo competitive maps has been full of problems.

A select group of lucky fans will get to leave those neverending waiting lines behind for the next ten days and start testing out the next generation of Halo instead…

Halo 5: Guardians is likely almost a full year away from retail launch, but 343 Industries promised fans that they would get a taste of the game in a very important beta long before the launch. That beta begins for Halo: The Master Chief Collection owners on December 29, but Xbox One Preview members will be able to access the week one beta content a full ten days early.

The super-sized early access will open up for Preview members December 19 (tomorrow) at 4PM ET. The extra testing time expires on December 22 at at 3AM ET. Players will have access to the new maps, weapons, and all-new, higher-tech Spartan abilities. An announcement viewable to select Preview Program members revealed the details of the special access…

The invite explains that the beta’s content will be released gradually over three weeks once the party kicks off for everyone else on December 29. Once the beta reaches its third week, players will be able to explore seven maps, three game types, and lots of new weapons.

Although betas are all about working out problems, many Halo fans are already entering the experience full of frustrations due to the current matchmaking problems. Players shouldn’t expect a perfect experience from the beta, but when the server problems hit, we don’t expect the Halo community to be very patient.

343 Industries has already offered a formal apology for the problems surrounding the Master Chief Collection’s launch and the company is hoping to get back in the good graces of fans by delivering early access to one of 2015′s most highly anticipated games. Hopefully for 343, Halo 5′s early access content can help get fans back on the hype train, rather than leave them waiting around in matchmaking lobbies again.
