Telltale Games teases ‘super secret surprise announcement’ [update: it"s Minecraft]

Update: Telltale Games has announced that it is partnering with Mojang to release Minecraft: Story Mode, “an all-new narrative-driven game series.” The game is a separate standalone product, according to Telltale, that will be set in the Minecraft world and is driven by player choice.

The first episode will be available in 2015 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android.

Original Story: The gaming year may be very quickly drawing to a close, but it looks like Telltale Games still has one more announcement up its sleeve, according to a tease by PR director Job Stauffer.

Stauffer took to Twitter to tease a “super secret surprise announcement” that will occur before the holiday break. He later clarified that this announcement isn’t connected to any of the studio’s 2014 titles, which includes The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Tales from the Borderlands.

Just to add to the excitement, in a later Tweet it was revealed that this announcement is connected to a collaboration between Telltale and another developer, just like Tales from the Borderlands was.

The announcement appears to be happening later today, according to Stauffer’s final tweet. We’ll let you know what it is as soon as it’s announced, so be sure to check back later today.
