Lego Batman 3 tones down Suicide Squad for upcoming DLC

DC’s Suicide Squad will be a tamer version of themselves simply called “The Squad” when they arrive in Lego Batman 3 as DLC next year, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced today.

The Suicide Squad is a ragtag band of supervillains in DC Comics brought together to take on the most dangerous missions for the government in exchange for lesser prison sentences. They first appeared in 1959’s The Brave and the Bold #25, but the roster of the team has changed repeatedly over the years. Its most recent comic incarnation consists of Harley Quinn, Black Manta, Deathstroke, Joker’s Daughter, and Deadshot.

In Lego Batman 3’s The Squad DLC, players will be given control of Captain Boomerang, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Deathstroke, (most of whom are already unlockable in the main game) and others, tasked with stopping a mysterious figure that has infiltrated Belle Reve Penitentiary (The Squad’s base of operations) in order to make sure they don’t uncover all of the Squad’s dirty secrets.

This DLC announcement comes on the heels of Warner Bros. Pictures’ confirmation on the cast for the 2016 live action Suicide Squad film, which will star Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Tom Hardy as Rick Flag, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, and Jared Leto as The Joker. As a fan of the comics, I can’t help but think the Lego Batman 3 version will actually be a better version of the characters.

The Squad DLC will include additional achievements, vehicles, and missions for players and will be available on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC for $2.99, or as part of the game’s $14.99 season pass.
