Capcom has announced the official release date of its upcoming HD remaster of the original Resident Evil.
Resident Evil is a HD remastered release of 2002′s Gamecube remake, which itself was based on the original PlayStation version of the game, so it’s a re-remake. The game will run at 30fps on all four consoles with PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC enjoying 1080p visuals. PC owners will have multiple ”frame rate options,” according to Capcom.
As well as upgraded visuals, the HD remaster also offers a choice between the classic 4:3 aspect ratio or a new 16:9 widescreen ratio. If you fancy even more choice, then how about the ability to choose your control scheme also, with classic and updated versions available—the updated scheme means that your character will move in the direction of the analogue stick.
Finally, there’s a new Very Easy Mode difficulty that is perfect for novice players, according to Capcom.
Resident Evil is set to launch on January 20 for $19.99 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
