Ubisoft working to fix The Crew’s stat-erasing bug

If you’ve played The Crew at all since launch, odds are good you’ve encountered a common bug whereby the game’s stats page suddenly forgets everything you’ve done. It’s a bit like visiting an elderly relative who’s mind in starting to go.

“Oh, that’s so cute, sweetie,” The Crew says. “You’re 3% complete with the game.”

“No, Gammy Crew,” you respond politely, ”I already beat all the story missions and found all the landmarks. Don’t you remember? It took hours and hours, and you were right there with me the whole time.”

She stares back, eyes glassy and unrecognizing. “You know, I have a grandson who looks just like you.”

Well, looks like you may finally be able to put those awkward rest home trips behind you. In a post on the official forums, Ubisoft has acknowledged the issue and stated they’re looking into a fix, though it’s not clear exactly when relief will arrive.

“Lately, some players have been encountering an issue where some game statistics where lost,” wrote community manager Natchai Stappers earlier this week. “Our team has been looking into it and was able to identify the issue. What was happening is that the server was sometimes unable to load your stats and erasing them. With today’s patch, the server will no longer be erasing your statistics however it might still be displaying the wrong stats. In short, your stats are no longer reset but they might not be properly displayed. Be sure that the team will be fixing this last issue for good in a future patch, until then, if you want to see your stats you can log off and log back into the game a couple of times and you should see them properly.”

Worth noting, however, is that Stappers cited “today’s patch” as the first step towards fixing the problem on December 9. As far as we can tell, the PlayStation 4 version of the game hasn’t received a title update since December 2. It’s possible that he may have been referring to a server-side patch, in which case the bug could already be on the way out. At the time of writing, my stat page still doesn’t adequately reflect my progress, though the wording of the statement makes it sound like Ubisoft is more confident in their ability to stop future resets than to revert data that was already wiped.
