Lindsay Lohan Releases Mobile Game ‘The Price of Fame’

Lindsay Lohan The Price Of Fame Mobile Release

It wasn’t long ago that the gaming industry was abuzz with discussion of Lindsay Lohan’s decision to sue Rockstar Games over a character in Grand Theft Auto 5 that she felt was created in her likeness. Whether the claim was legitimate or not, the stunt managed to throw the spotlight back on the Mean Girls star. Now just months later, Lindsay Lohan has officially made the jump into the world of gaming with the release of her own mobile title, The Price of Fame.

The game in question released earlier this week as a freemium title for iOS and Android devices. In it, players take on the role of Lohan’s new protege as she launches them into celebrity stardom. From choosing outfits to taking action to draw in would-be fans, the game bears a resemblance to Kim Kardashian’s recent foray into the realm of mobile gaming. Further adding to the star-power supporting the title, one of the names behind developer Space Inch is Andy Ross who fans may recognize as a member of the band OK Go.

According to the game’s description, “there’s a LOT OF DRAMA along the way” to becoming famous. The game allows would-be celebrities to dress up their avatar in any number of ridiculous fashion choices, often bordering on the absurd with scuba apparel and the option to live underwater. Not content to stop there, the game will also provide players with the opportunity to, “start a phony rap beef, buy a private peninsula, get butt implants, fight in an elevator, and give your baby botox.”

Options such as these further highlight the lengths with which it seems Lindsay Lohan is willing to go to draw attention to herself. Viewing her Grand Theft Auto 5 suit as a means of generating publicity, the release of this game is hardly a far cry from that. Whether the suit itself was meant as a means of drawing attention to her in advance of revealing The Price of Fame, it’s impossible to deny that the stunt helped.

For gamers who are interested in giving the life of a high-profile celebrity a try, the title can be picked up for free with in-app purchases unlocking various items throughout the game. The format is standard fare for anyone familiar with freemium mobile titles. With the current-gen release of Grand Theft Auto 5 making waves, Lohan is likely hoping that her own gaming venture will make its way up the mobile charts. After all, Kim Kardashian made around $85 million for her mobile game…
