Following on last week’s introduction of exotic upgrades, excitement for Xur has returned. He may had a repeat rocket launcher in Truth, but this was the new, higher attack power version. And the same was true of his armor options, which included one DLC piece for Titans, and higher defense power items for the other two classes.
This week, Xur can be found right across from The Speaker, in front of the giant door-looking structure. Head to the left from Orbit, down the stairs, and you should see Xur surrounded by a group of players looking to see what he has for sale.
Unfortunately, getting to Xur will not please everyone. For starters, his exotic weapon this week is the Patience and Time sniper rifle. It’s a solid option for regular Nightfall runners, especially those who fly solo, but we’re sure plenty were hoping that if Xur was going to have a sniper it would be Ice Breaker. No such luck.
On the armor side, Xur has the same DLC gauntlets – the Ruin Wings – that he had last week, but Warlock’s will be pleased to see a set of DLC gauntlets for their class available. And for Hunters, the Knucklehead Radar is a decent helmet for Crucible, as it keeps the radar active while using any primary weapon.
For a full rundown of Xur’s items and prices see the list below:
- Ruin Wings (Titan DLC Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
- Knucklehead Radar (Hunter Helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
- Claws of Ahamkara (Warlock DLC Gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
- Patience and Time (Sniper Rifle) – 17 Strange Coins
- Exotic Shard – 7 Strange Coins
- Exotic Helmet Engram – 23 Motes of Light
Then we get to Xur’s exotic upgrade selection, which is far less exciting than last week. Sure, he has mostly new weapons available, including one PlayStation exclusive in the Monte Carlo, but he has yet to offer the Gjallarhorn upgrade. After Ice Breaker, or maybe even more than Ice Breaker, Gjallarhorn has become an irreplaceable part of any raider’s arsenal, especially in the final fight with Crota. Nevertheless, there are some good options available, see the list below.
Exotic Upgrades:
- Crest of Alpha Lupi
- Lucky Raspberry
- Crest of Alpha Lupi (Titan)
- No Backup Plans
- Heart of Praxic Fire
- Sunbreakers
- MIDA Multi-Tool
- Thorn
- Remote Control
- Plan C
- Super Good Advice
- Truth
- Monte Carlo
Overall, not a great week for Xur, but still much-improved thanks to the introduction of the exotic upgrades. There are still quite a few items on our list of hopeful items, but it looks like we’ve got a week of waiting to do.
What do you think of Xur’s selection this week? Which weapons/armor do you hope he has on sale or available for upgrade next week?
