Latest Far Cry 4 trailer overviews upcoming DLC content, early alt ending discovered

A new trailer for Far Cry 4’s season pass overviews the upcoming DLC content (sure, it’s not even out yet, but this is the world we live in), while an unofficial video reveals a hidden Easter egg ending found early into the game.

Escape from Durgesh brings new open-world missions, while The Hurk Pack adds more Hurk and 5 new weapons. Overrun will introduce a new PvP mode along with four new maps, and Valley of the Yetis will introduce—well, yetis, as part of a new campaign.

In other Far Cry 4 news, a hidden Easter-egg ending within the game’s first half-hour has been discovered. Having not played it yet, I’ve opted not to watch the video myself, so I can’t say much more about it. But it’s embedded below, for your viewing pleasure, if you don’t all that much care or want a good chuckle.

For those of you keen on Far Cry’s map editor, your buying decision—that’s a term I learned from brief work in marketing!—might be swayed upon learning that Far Cry 4’s map editor only applies to co-op modes such as Assault, Hunt, Outpost, or Extraction. User-created maps will not work with competitive multiplayer.

“I direct the game but I don’t set budgets or timelines,” creative director Alex Hutchinson said on Twitter in response to this discovery. “We always try to squeeze in as much as we can, but we’re always prioritizing.”

Hutchinson did, however, indicate that the MP map editor could be added in post-launch, since the team at Ubisoft fully intends to “keep supporting the game.”

“No promises but we will try,” he added.

Far Cry 4 launches across Windows PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 tomorrow. EGM’s review will go later today if not early tomorrow.
