Rare working on ‘a uniquely Rare game,’ says Phil Spencer

Rare’s next game will be “a uniquely Rare game,” according to Head of Xbox Phil Spencer.

Writing on Twitter, Spencer said that Rare is ”building a uniquely Rare game, as it should be,” following a recent visit to the studio to play the currently unannounced title. Sadly he didn’t provide any other details.

Back in August, Spencer said that he wanted Rare to move away from the Kinect and get back to what the developer really stands for. “Right now with Rare we’re at a point where I don’t want the Rare brand to mean Kinect Sports,” Spencer told CVG at the time. “The Rare brand can be more valuable to them, to us and to gamers than that.

“I think it’s about them thinking about the next game that’s going to be the next ‘Rare game’ and really stand for what they are. I know they’ve got some great ideas.”

The developer was acquired by Microsoft back in 2002 for $375 million and is famous for games such as Banjo Kazooie, GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, and Conker’s Bad Fur Day.
