Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios’ unannounced comic book videogame—rumored to be about Iron Man—is no longer in development, studio founder Christofer Sundberg confirmed to Game Informer.
“It, unfortunately, ended up never happening,” Sundberg told Game Informer in a video interview. “It’s always heartbreaking when a project gets canceled, but that’s, unfortunately, the reality we live in. And not all projects survive.”
Fortunately, Avalanche was able to re-allocate the people working on the comic book project to Mad Max instead of facing another severe round of layoffs like they did in 2008, when the studio let go of about 77 employees.
When asked by Game Informer if, as the rumors suggested, the unannounced project was an Iron man game, Sundberg stated, “I can’t comment on that.”
The interview follows Game Informer’s recent reveal of Just Cause 3, one of two open-world games Avalanche will release in 2015. The other, of course, being Mad Max.
