First teaser trailer for Telltale’s Game of Thrones highlights actors from the HBO series reprising their roles

One of the many reasons Cyanide’s 2012 Game of Thrones RPG didn’t work was because the developer only struck a deal to include a couple of likenesses from the HBO fantasy epic in the game—minor characters, at that.

That won’t be the case with Telltale’s upcoming episodic Game of Thrones adventure. In a post today on the PlayStation Blog that also serves to debut the game’s teaser trailer, Telltale community lead Laura Perusco revealed that Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage will reprise their roles from the HBO series as Cersei Lannister and Tyrion Lannister, respectively.

Natalie Dormer as Margaery Tyrell and Iwan Rheon as Ramsay Snow will also be featured, with as-yet-unannounced “additional cast members” appearing in later episodes. The games, which will release on the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and Mac, are supposed to take place concurrently within the present continuity of the show, so there shouldn’t be any worries about Telltale’s series jumping ahead to plot points from George R. R. Martin’s books that haven’t yet aired on TV.

The trailer ends by saying that the six-episode series will be “premiering soon,” which doesn’t shed a whole lot of light on an actual release date. Telltale has repeatedly said that the first episode, Iron from Ice, will debut sometime this year, but time’s running out to hit that mark. After all, winter is…on its way.
